Neurocognitive and Psychiatric Evaluation

A neurocognitive evaluation focuses on the different levels of cognitive ability, including memory, attention, language, visuospatial skills, and executive function. This involves asking about the subjective experience as well as using cognitive screening tools to measure each ability. We also go over a person’s ability to do everyday tasks, which range from simple things like getting dressed to more complex tasks like driving or managing appointments. This information is all synthesized to arrive at a specific diagnosis. The neurocognitive evaluation allows for a better understanding of the brain and cognition, emotion, perception, and behavior. This approach is ideal for people with conditions like dementia who experience difficulties in these domains and would benefit from treatment and management.
